INTERTANKO
INTERTANKO (the International Association of Independent Tanker Owners) is a trade association that has served as the voice for independent tanker owners since 1970, representing the interests of its Members at national, regional and international levels.
The organization champions an industry dedicated to support global energy networks by delivering safe, efficient and environmentally sound transport services.
INTERTANKO actively works on a wide range of operational, technical, legal and commercial issues affecting tanker owners and operators around the world. It draws on regular and direct contact with its Members and other industry stakeholders to develop and disseminate information and best practice, essential to the tanker industry.

OCIMF
The Torrey Canyon crude oil tanker grounded in 1967 initiated a wave of public concern around the world over incidents of environmental pollution from tankers.
In the early 1970s, there were many anti-pollution initiatives proposed nationally, regionally and internationally, but only of an individual nature, with very little joint coordination between organizations and countries.
The Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) is different. It is a voluntary organization of oil companies in the world. Through OCIMF, the oil industry has been able to play a stronger coordinating role in responding to these initiatives, making the industry’s expertise widely available through collaboration with governments and inter-governmental agencies.
OCIMF was granted a consultation at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in 1971 and continues to present the views of the oil industry at IMO meetings. Since then, OCIMF role has been expanded to meet the changes in maritime operations of its members. OCIMF remit now covers safety, health, security and the environment pertaining to tankers, barges, offshore vessels and terminal interfaces. OCIMF not only contributes a significant number of regulations at the IMO to improve tanker safety and protect the environment, but also provides important new guidance on current pressing issues such as pirates and shipping in the Arctic. OCIMF is in a unique position to leverage its members’ expertise to promote the necessary guidance on important industry issues. This helps not only members but also the oil and gas industry to apply regulations, while also making valuable references to the development of new regulations.
More than 100 current members of OCIMF include all major oil companies in the world along with the majority of National Petroleum Companies (Vietnam Oil and Gas Group was an official member of OCIMF in November 2010).
Today, OCIMF is widely recognized as the voice of the oil industry, providing expertise in the safe and environmentally responsible transportation and treatment of hydrocarbons both for ships and port depots, and continuously establishing and improving safety standards.
OCIMF has an abundant portfolio of tools to assess the status of participants in oil and gas activities, including the SIRE, TMSA, OVID, MTIS programmes mentioned below.

International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) and Vietnam Registry (VR)
Dedicated to safe ships and clean seas, IACS makes a unique contribution to maritime safety and regulation through technical support, compliance verification and research and development. More than 90% of the world’s cargo carrying tonnage is covered by the classification design, construction and through-life compliance rules and standards set by the twelve Member Societies of IACS.
IACS is a not for profit membership organization of classification societies that establish minimum technical standards and requirements that address maritime safety and environmental protection and ensures their consistent application. It carries out this responsibility through its panels, expert groups and project teams and provides a Quality System Certification Scheme (QSCS) that its Members comply with, as an assurance of professional integrity and maintenance of high professional standards. IACS is recognized as the principal technical advisor of IMO.

Chemical Distribution Institute (CDI)
The CDI is incorporated under the law of the Netherlands as the Stichting Chemical Distribution Institute (CDI) and operates as a non-profit making foundation.
CDI is responsible for the inspection and audit of the global supply chain for the transport and storage of bulk and packaged chemicals. CDI is not a trade association; it is non-profit, non-commercial and free from political influence.
CDI was created by the chemical manufacturing industry, for the chemical industry in 1994 and over the years has gone from strength to strength. CDI is here to serve the chemical company members of CDI and provide their inspection and audit needs in order to provide them with cost effective systems for risk assessment using the best chemical and LPG knowledge available
